Roy Cardwell

Special Agent Roy Cardwell of the Drug Enforcement Agency was Carlos Moore's partner before the latter was "set up" and provoked into violating protocol and fired. Much more of a "company man" than Moore, Cardwell protected his own job at Moore's expense. Partly out of guilt, and partly out of loyalty to his old partner, Cardwell continues to help Moore, trading information and key support against Montes de Oca drug enterprises.

Moore tipped Cardwell off about the location of a Montes de Oca drug courier that had died with the cargo in the Whetstone mountains, but the brass' over-eagerness to put the meth on the table kept them from getting a solid case against the MDO goons that had set out to recover it.

Cardwell was drawn further into Moore's life when the Gomez family was targeted by the Gentry known as The Longest Shadow. During a confrontation with the Shadow, Cardwell was torn from the world and dragged across the Hedge. He currently has had his limbs torn off and his body sewn into a hunting dog's, at the villa of the Longest Shadow, where he must hunt raccoons and coyotes across a cactus-strewn moonlit night, forever.
