Maritza Maldonado, a methamphetamine addict who drifts from prostitution to burglary and back again, is the daughter of legendary 'coyote' Francisco Mendez. Exposure to the Hedge tore holes at the edges of her mind she could only fill with drugs, until by 2008 she was living in abandoned trailers and condemned buildings. She helped her brother, "Little" Frankie Mendez in his attempts to kill the members of the Gomez family who had been selected by her father to receive the deal from the Changelings regarding their tunnels across the Border, but escaped their revenge. She never wanted Little Frankie to do what he did, and was helpless to stop him. She remains tainted by her time in the Hedge and could easily be drawn into Changeling business again.
